The Bexleyheath Stage School of Dancing is based in Kent and is still thriving after 47 years since it was first founded in 1972 by Madam Yandie. The school prides itself on being one of the longest running, traditional dancing schools where technique and performance is pursued.
Janette Williams, principal of the school, was one of the school's first pupils and has now been principal for 38 years.
For many years, pupils have gained experience and enjoyment in performing and engaging in annual shows, professional pantomimes, festivals, cabaret shows, modelling, backing singing, film & charity work. A number of pupils transition to respectable full time dance colleges and universities, to further their career in dance and musical theatre. Highly successful pupils have gone on to be a part of the English Youth Ballet, National Youth Ballet, and have a lot of professional jobs in the industry ranging from West end performances, touring with companies and Cruise Liner performers.
The school works regularly towards exams and the syllabus covers Ballet, Tap, Jazz, Musical Theatre, Singing, Contemporary, Flexibility, Drama and Acrobatics. Pupils range from 18 months - 60 years. Our aim is to develop and promote individual talent.
We were proud to be the first dancing school to perform for Mardi Gras at Portaventura (Spain), a follow up from our appearance at Disneyland Paris in 2007. In 2008/9 we were the Senior Mardi-Gras challenge winners.
