The school was founded in 1972, by Madam Yandie.
Janette Williams, was one of the school's first pupils and has now been principal for 41 years. The school prides itself on being one of the longest running, traditional dancing schools where technique and performance is pursued.
We were proud to be the first dancing school to perform for Mardi Gras at Portaventura (Spain), a follow up from our appearance at Disneyland Paris in 2007. In 2008/9 we were the Senior Mardi-Gras challenge winners.
Highly successful pupils have gone on to be a part of the English Youth Ballet, National Youth Ballet, and have a lot of professional jobs in the industry ranging from West-End performances, touring with companies and Cruise Liner performers.
Janette, started dancing at the age of 7, where the love of dance, singing and gymnastics soon became a passion. Janette, became Principal of Bexleyheath Stage School of Dancing whilst studying major exams in I.S.T.D; R.A.D and Cecchetti branches in Ballet, Modern, Tap, Jazz and American Tap. She was one of the National Youth Ballet's original performers, landing a part in Fisherboy. Janette went on to perform in many professional musicals and pantomimes across the U.K - although was unable to detach herself from her role at B.S.S.D.
In 2012, she was presented with a Civic Recognition award at the Mayors Chamber for the many years of service to the Borough, the community and the dancing school. In the same year, Janette was honoured to be a dancer in the opening ceremony of the 2012 Olympics and her energy and passion for the Performing Arts continues.
